Plumbers and heating engineers are more likely than most to come across asbestos at work(26/07/2011)
The latest figures from 2008 show 2249 deaths from mesothelioma, one of the types of lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. In total, asbestos exposure is believed to have caused about 4000 deaths that year and the numbers are predicted to rise until 2016. The Institute and EON have teamed up to run the Save Water Save Money campaign which includes providing ShowerSave devices free of charge to CIPHE registered plumbers. Telephone marketing scam aimed at CIPHE members(27/10/2010)
A telephone marketing scam has recently targeted a CIPHE member. A telemarketing firm contacted a CIPHE member after obtaining their details from the ‘Find A Plumber’ section of the CIPHE website. The alleged company are offering the opportunity to purchase an advertisement in a publication that they incorrectly claim has been endorsed by the CIPHE in conjunction with Social Services and the Police.
