The internet is becoming the first port of call for bathroom purchases

New research from bigbathroomshop reveals the way we shop online is changing and provided and insight into the way we use the internet.

Key findings:
· The internet has become the first port of call for many shoppers
· There is a growing trend towards using the internet for research of product styles and ranges.
· Many shoppers use the internet as a source of inspiration before buying from traditional retail channels,
· The internet provides a solution to the tension that often exists between the sexes as to when to do the shopping
· Consumers are changing their view that the Internet is all about low prices

Commenting on the findings, Fiona Berry, Marketing Manager of bigbathroomshop said: "With over 15% of last year's retail sales taking place online and that proportion set to become even greater month by month, its important that all retailers work to understand what people want when they look online.

"Our in-depth research showed that customers wanted to be both inspired and informed by their online shopping experience. Interestingly it also showed that couples were likely to use the internet so that they shop together at a time that suited them and others used it to present a 'solution' so that their partner could review the choice before making a purchase.

"If you look at our site for example, we've worked to combine massive choice by having over 4,000 bathroom products from leading brands available, with an ease of use that allows people to get exactly what they want, when they want it. Unless more retailers take this customer-centric approach they'll find themselves marginalised more and more."
